Police outside Philadelphia are investigating the theft of a U-Haul truck that was loaded with customized bikes meant for Wounded Warriors, FOX 29 reported.
The 16-foot truck had nine specially-designed bikes, worth about $40,000, inside. The bikes are given to wounded veterans by the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).
The theft occurred Friday night or early Saturday outside a Tinicum hotel, but it's unclear whether the thief or thieves knew what they were stealing.
The WWP uses the bikes for its Soldier Ride events across the country, including one last weekend in Philly.
There was no surveillance cameras outside the hotel, but the WWP is hoping there was a witness or the thief will return the items when he or she realizes what they stole.
