Republicans Give Trump An October Deadline To Fix His Campaign Or Be Dumped

The Republican Party is close to cutting off Donald Trump and leaving his campaign for dead. Reports are that if Trump doesn't improve in the polls by October, the GOP will forget about the White House race.
The Republican Party is close to cutting off Donald Trump and leaving his campaign for dead. Reports are that if Trump doesn’t improve in the polls by October, the GOP will forget about the White House race.
ABC’s Jon Karl said on This Week:
The frustration with those who want him to win desperately want him to get back on message, is that he has managed to overshadow what they see as Hillary Clinton’s real vulnerabilities, the stories of the e-mails this week.
But there’s this sense — who see some Republicans saying that the RNC should simply cut him off and focus on the Senate and House races, governors’ races, focus down ballot.
The RNC cannot do that right now. And you talk to senior people at the RNC. They say that their fate is tied to Trump. First of all, they need him as a moneymaker. They need him to raise money.
And they also believe that if Trump loses huge, if he really goes down in a spiral, loses by double digits, that he brings everybody with him, that they lose the Senate, they lose big in the House, they lose governorships.
So the RNC may make a decision — you know, I’m told, you know, in October to cut him off if they’re — if he’s still way down. But at this point, their fate, as frustrated as they are, their fate is tied to Donald Trump.
The Republican frustration with Trump is turning up in stories all over the media. A New York Times story on his campaign paints Trump as an isolated candidate who can’t stay on message, handle leading the Republican Party, refuses to take advice from anyone but family.
The AP reported that Republicans are already cooking up a plan to dump Trump and instead focus on states that don’t have top-tier Senate races in a bid to hold on to their Senate majority.
The October deadline for Trump is intentional. The RNC is giving Trump enough time to get through the first presidential debate before cutting him loose.
If Trump doesn’t gain any support after the first debate, they will abandon him. The RNC needs Trump to raise money for them until October. Once the party reaches October, they’ll have enough cash to go forward without Trump.
The Trump campaign and the media are kidding themselves if they believe that they have a lot of time left to turn it around. Donald Trump has about six weeks to get it together before Republicans throw in the towel and divert their resources towards saving the Senate.
Time is running out, as the Republican Party is getting ready to dump Donald Trump.
