VPOR had been at .0001 for months and assumed by many to be a scam.
Without any news and without any posts of significance on iHub from other than scanner / bottom up watchers, it did the following (days with over 10M volume only):
June 28: 136M .0001 + .0002
June 29: 47M .0001 + .0002
July 1: 11M .0001 + .0002
July 8: 21M .0001 + .0002
July 19: 114M .0001 + .0002
July 20: 23M .0001 + .0002 + .0003
July 21: 15M .0001 + .0002 + .0003
July 22: 12M .0002 + .0003
July 26: 12M .0002 + .0003
August 1: 99M .0003 + .0004
August 2: 10M .0003 + .0004
August 3: 13M .0003 + .0004
August 4: 22M .0003 + .0004
August 5: 150M .0004 + .0005 + .0006
August 8: 129M .0005 + .0006 + .0007
August 9: 316M .0007 + .0008 + .0009 + .0010 + .0011
August 10: 554M .0011 + .0012 + .0013 + .0014 + .0015 + .0016
Total: 1.684 Billion
On each uptick, the ask wall was kept down to around 30M>50M by disciplined traders - there were no morons putting everything up on the ask 1-tick at a time.
As new people began to hear about - particularly at the .0010 break, an element of chasing set in by - particularly by those who did not have a mental picture of what had been picked up and / or sold at every level below.
At both .0014 and .0015, people were still hitting the ask for 10M/15M at a time.
Then there was not a single market maker above the current ask of .0016.
When the odd large profit taker sold 10M at a time into a 20M>30M bid, the bid was getting topped up 10M>20M at a time - maintaining 20M>30M - by newbies who were bidding rather than hitting the ask. However, only a few newbies would get in at each bid level so others would hit the ask for fear of being left out and the bidders would get left behind therefore hitting the ask themselves next time.
Then the first flipper put a wall up at .0020 - around 20M. Soon after, a few others tried to undercut with asks at .0019/.0018/.0017.
A few bid whackers then sold into the bid at .0015 / .00014 / .0013 / . 0012 / .0011 and by .0010 there was only about 10M being put up on the bid at each level which led to a close of .0007.
Again I repeat - no news - just people reacting to an observed movement.
For several days, people who had spotted the move were saying "Any idea why it is going up (but not so politely)" to which the answer was generally "Who cares !" drowning out any disillusioned long-term bashers who had previously sold for a loss [sound familiar ?].
By comparison, $REDG has all the revenue streams already mentioned - albeit actual revenue not yet announced - and over 2.5 Billion shares bought at .0001 since July 1 for some reason. Just like 1.4 Billion had been bought at .0001 over several months before the last run from no bid to .0008.
Moral of this example - a run can be made to happen by big players who have loaded without any input from or contact with the company whatsoever !
