Quantum Materials Corp. (OTCQB: QTMM) Update - Announces Partnership for Development of Nanomaterials for Tracing Fracking Fluids to Point of Origin
August 3, 2016
Just wanted to make sure everyone saw today's news out from Quantum Materials Corp. wherein they announced the Company has partnered with a Texas-based E&P technology business and has completed the initial phase of developing specialized nanomaterials for use in oil and gas well production optimization.
In the release Quantum CEO Sri Peruvemba stated: “We are excited to be a part of this project which has the potential to bring a wealth of new information to the oil and gas industry. However more importantly to Quantum, the challenges of creating nanoparticles that can withstand the harsh downhole environment are leading us to discoveries that we can apply to make our quantum dots for use in displays and lighting more robust.”
While we do not have much detail on today's release yet, we expect to know more as this program moves forward in terms of the size of the market and revenue opportunity, etc once this technology is proven up. Today's release does underscore one of the key value drivers we have been stating about quantum dots for some time now: the fact that these highly efficient nanoparticles can be utilized to replace and/or improve a large number of existing materials/products in a myriad of markets including flat panel displays, solid state lighting, solar cells, batteries and medical applications - and now we can add the oil and gas industry to that list.

Regarding Quantum's primary focus of moving their cadmium-free quantum dots into the supply chain of the opto-electronics industry, we are currently working on a comprehensive update for Quantum's core business mission at this time - the incorporation of quantum dots into an optical film (with an undisclosed display film partner) for the enhancement and increased color gamut of standard LCD flat panel displays.
Based on the timelines laid out in a recent press release regarding this program (link here), we expect the next few months will be both extremely active and pivotal for QMC - putting them on a solid course to move the Company from a QD development group to a meaningful supplier of QD materials in an industry that is ramping up very quickly based on the recent success of Samsung's SUHD quantum dot driven line of flat panel displays.
Once that report is complete we will be sure to send you a copy.
