Cascade Bancorp reports Q4 2015 net income of USD5.6m
M2 - Thu Feb 04, 7:00AM CST
Cascade Bancorp (NASDAQ: CACB) has reported 2015 net income of USD 5.6 million, or USD0.08 per share in the fourth quarter, compared with USD5.1 million, or USD0.07 per share for the third quarter 2015, the company said. Fourth quarter 2015 financial highlights include: o Loan growth was USD40.6 million, or 9.8 percent annualized, during the fourth quarter, while organic loan growth1 was approximately USD29.6 million, or 8.5 percent annualized. Organic loan growth for the full year was 11.8 percent with year-end gross loans at USD1.7 billion. o Deposits at December 31, 2015 were flat compared to September 30, 2015. However, average deposits increased 8.0 percent (annualized) versus the linked quarter average. Checking balances were over 56.8 percent of total deposits with an overall cost of funds of 0.08 percent. o Fourth quarter net interest income was USD0.6 million lower than the linked quarter primarily due to seasonally higher loan fees in the prior period. This resulted in a fourth quarter net interest margin ("NIM" of 3.52 percent as compared to 3.72 percent in the linked quarter. The lower NIM was also affected by the increasing volume of loans subject to interest rate swaps. o Fourth quarter results included a credit to the provision for loan losses of USD2.0 million. Net charge offs for the period were USD0.2 million compared to net recoveries of USD3.1 million in the linked quarter and USD6.4 million for the full year. The reserve for loan losses was 1.45 percent of total loans at period end. o Non-interest income for the fourth quarter of 2015 decreased compared to the linked quarter due primarily to USD0.5 million higher securities gain in the linked quarter. o Non-interest expense for the fourth quarter was lower than linked quarter levels by USD1.0 million, largely related to reduced human resource costs and lower professional and marketing expense. Full year 2015 financial highlights include: o Net income for 2015 was USD20.6 million, or USD0.29 per share, compared to USD3.7 million, or USD0.06 per share, for 2014. o Return on average tangible assets3 was 0.87 percent compared to 0.19 percent. o Return on average tangible stockholders' equity4 was 8.56 percent compared to 1.77 percent. o Year-over-year loan growth was 13.1 percent, while organic loan growth was approximately USD149.7 million, or 11.8 percent, for the year. o Year-over-year deposit growth was 5.1 percent. During the fourth quarter of 2015, the company entered into an agreement to purchase 15 branch locations in Oregon and southeast Washington from Bank of America, National Association. The recent balance of the deposits to be assumed by Cascade is approximately USD700 million. Total assets at December 31, 2015 were USD2.5 billion, in-line with the linked quarter and up USD126.9 million from the prior year. Cascade Bancorp (NASDAQ: CACB) is the holding company for Bank of the Cascades and operates in Oregon, Idaho and Washington markets.
