Fujitsu Develops Cyber Threat Intelligence Utilization System with BAE Systems, Inc.
JCN Newswire - Sun May 15, 10:44PM CDT
TOKYO, May 16, 2016 - (JCN Newswire) - Fujitsu Limited today announced that it has worked with BAE Systems--one of the largest US defense companies offering comprehensive threat analytics capabilities for managing threat intelligence, detecting and investigating unknown cyber threats, advanced persistent threats, and zero-day attacks--to develop a cyber threat intelligence (CTI) utilization system, which efficiently utilizes CTI, the details of cyber-attacks and responses in a computational format. This system merges BAE Systems' meta-modeling technology(1), which makes CTI sharing easy, Fujitsu's automation technology, for efficient cyber-attack response, and cyber-attack response know-how being developed by both companies since 2015. The system offers CTI sharing function that enables secure and easy CTI sharing between organizations and CTI generation function, which brings together multiple CTI pieces into a more comprehensive CTI. The aim of this system is to share knowledge related to cyber-attacks between various organizations and companies, and to offer a structure whereby effective responses are taken efficiently. It will provide functions to make it safe and easy to share CTI, and that make it possible to generate and utilize more advanced CTI by fusing multiple CTI sources. This system will enable cyber-attack analysts(2), even those with little experience, to rapidly provide high-quality analysis and strong responses. Going forward, this system will be utilized and improved in the field, such as at the Fujitsu Advanced Artifact Analysis Laboratory(3), which is a facility providing advanced security analysis for the Fujitsu Group. Fujitsu plans to commercialize the technology in fiscal 2016. Fujitsu is working hard to build a safe and secure ICT environment by promoting the spread of this system, contributing to the advancement of cyber-attack analysis and responses. Background

JCN Newswire - Tue May 10, 12:22PM CDT
TOKYO, May 10, 2016 - (JCN Newswire) - Fujitsu today announced that it has received an order for a many-core large-scale supercomputer system from the University of Tokyo and the University of Tsukuba. The system will be deployed to the Joint Center for Advanced High-Performance Computing (JCAHPC), which the two universities jointly operate. The new supercomputer will be an x86 cluster system consisting of 8,208 of the latest FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY x86 servers. These will run on the next-generation Intel(R) Xeon Phi(TM) processors (Intel development code name: Knights Landing), and achieve a theoretical aggregate performance of 25 petaflops (PFLOPS(1)). The system is due to be completely operational starting December 2016, when it is expected to be Japan's highest-performance supercomputer. Background

Fujitsu develops High-Accuracy Fuel Efficiency Estimates through a ship's operational data
JCN Newswire - Mon May 09, 10:07PM CDT
KAWASAKI, Japan, May 10, 2016 - (JCN Newswire) - Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. today announced the development of technology that uses analysis of ship-related big data to estimate fuel efficiency, speed and other performance in actual sea conditions, to a highly accurate margin of error of less than 5%. This newly developed technology puts to work Fujitsu Laboratories' propriety high-dimensional statistical analysis technology to estimate the performance of ships actually at sea. The technology utilizes a massive volume of measurement data gathered while the ship is underway, including sensor data of meteorological and hydrographic conditions(1) such as wind, waves, and ocean currents, ship engine log data, and data about the speed and position of the ship. By applying the results of this research to Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology's weather routing simulator for evaluation, Fujitsu Laboratories demonstrated it could improve fuel efficiency by about 5% from previous results, with ships that navigate the shortest shipping routes. With this technology, it is possible to accurately estimate a ship's performance in actual sea conditions, which previously had a large margin of error, enabling evaluation of ship performance, design feedback, and significant improvements in fuel efficiency when used in ship navigation. This technology uses Fujitsu's AI technology, Human Centric AI Zinrai, and Fujitsu Laboratories will continue to improve its estimation accuracy through further operational trials going forward. The technology will be exhibited at Fujitsu Forum 2016, which will be held May 19th and 20th at the Tokyo International Forum (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan). Background
