Donald Trump thinks Michelle Obama’s DNC speech was great

Michelle Obama’s speech during the Democratic National Convention was at least the second time she captivated the attention of a Trump.

The Donald said he was a fan of the first lady’s performance Monday night at the convention in Philadelphia where she went to bat for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

“I thought her delivery was excellent,” Trump told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday. “I thought she did a very good job. I liked her speech.”

Trump’s wife, Melania, was under fire last week for lifting parts of her address to the GOP from Obama’s speech at the 2008 DNC. A Trump Organization staffer later took responsibility for the alleged plagiarism in a statement released by the campaign.

Obama’s speech Monday took shots at Donald Trump, but never mentioned his name. Referring to his proclivity for Twitter, the first lady said that the next president will need to understand issues that “cannot be boiled down to 140 characters.”

“Because when you have the nuclear codes at your fingertips and the military in your command, you can’t make snap decisions,” Obama continued. “You can’t have a thin skin or a tendency to lash out. You need to be steady and measured and well-informed.”

Trump’s praise comes after Obama encouraged the audience to take the high road.

“When they go low, we go high,” Obama said of the criticism her family has faced in office.
