Well. All of the below assumes that Prurisol works well through Phase 3 and gets approved:
First of all, there's a reason they call it off-label use. Doctors can prescribe any approved drug. However, if it has not been approved by the FDA FOR THAT USE, the drug manufacturers cannot advertise it for that use.
Also, how many doctors think that their malpractice insurance premiums are low, so they have no concerns about:

Doctors ... also admit that using a drug off-label can raise the risk of lawsuits should a patient have unwanted or bad side effects.

Secondly: there was a study which showed that abacavir was not very effective against psoriasis when taken in that (now generic) form. Prurisol seemingly IS showing efficacy.
Third: The reason to use a generic off-label is for cost-effectiveness. Prurisol is evidently not expensive to manufacture. Does everyone assume that the CTIX management is so dimwitted as to price it so exorbitantly that people won't use it? Or will they price it reasonably, so that they capture the market with a drug that has been approved for THAT USE, in the form that works better which is to say Prurisol?
