Indianapolis native Lauren Holiday, a midfielder on the 2015 FIFA Women's World
Cup-winning U.S. National soccer team, will drive the Chevrolet SS pace car to start
Sunday's Crown Royal Presents the Jeff Kyle 400 at the Brickyard.
"It's been an incredible month for me, winning a world title while representing the United
States," Holiday said. "This will be another incredible thrill, driving a pace car in my
hometown in front of the greatest race fans in the world."
Holiday attended Ben Davis High School and has played on U.S. National teams for a
decade. She has won two Olympic gold medals and has played in two World Cups. In
the United States' 5-2 win over Japan in the championship match on July 5, she scored
a goal
This is the second year in a row that the
Chevrolet SS has served as the pace car.
The SS in 2015 adds more performance-
oriented features that enhance its dynamic
driving experience, like Magnetic Ride Control
and a six-speed manual transmission.
Posing with the car is Jeff Kyle, a Marine Corps
sergeant who served from 2000 to 2008 in the
infantry and reserves. He received the Navy
Achievement Medal, and he was deployed to Iraq
twice, in addition to Africa and several other
locations overseas. NASCAR has chosen to
name this year's Brickyard 400 after him
