Palin Rips Cruz: Refusal to Endorse Trump Is a 'Ca

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) tore into Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) today after his speech to the RNC in which he did not endorse Donald Trump.
Cruz then doubled down this morning, telling delegates from Texas that he's "not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father."
In a statement to Breitbart, Palin wrote:
Cruz’s broken pledge to support the will of the people tonight was one of those career-ending “read my lips” moments. I guarantee American voters took notice and felt more unsettling confirmation as to why we don’t much like typical politicians because they campaign one way, but act out another way. That kind of political status quo has got to go because it got us into the mess we’re in with America’s bankrupt budgets and ramped up security threats.
In March at a Fox News debate, Cruz said he would support Trump if he eventually became the nominee.
"I gave my word that I would," he said.
But in a primetime speech last night that drew a chorus of boos, Cruz instructed voters to "vote their conscience."
"Stand and speak and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the Constitution," he said.
The 2008 VP nominee was formerly a close ally of Cruz, with the Texas senator saying in 2013 he would not have won his Senate seat without Palin's backing.
