(AP) — In a story June 16 about an oil train derailment in the Columbia River Gorge, The Associated Press reported erroneously that all 42,000 gallons of oil that was released in the derailment entered the Columbia River. Less than 10 gallons of oil entered the river and the rest burned off, was trapped by a sewage system or absorbed by soil.
