Yeppers, this is really helping tamp down community reaction and sending the message that the police are taking these things to heart.
If it’s all about having a “national conversation,” Minnesota seems committed instead to a shouting match.
Black Lives Matter T-shirts worn by WNBA Minnesota Lynx players, which carried a message of “justice and accountability” following the fatal police shootings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, prompted four off-duty Minneapolis cops to abandon their posts in protest during pregame warmups Saturday. The officers had been moonlighting as security.
“I commend them for it,” said Lieutenant Bob Kroll, president of the Minneapolis Police Federation, in an attempt to understand both sides in a complex narrative.
The black T-shirts worn by the three-time WNBA champions said “Change starts with us — Justice & Accountability” on the front. Castile’s and Sterling’s names were printed on the back along with “Black Lives Matter” and a Dallas Police Department emblem.
“Other cops said they heard about it and they were not going to work Lynx games,” Kroll said. “If the players are going to keep that stance, all officers may refuse to work there.”
Hello? McFly of law enforcement? Can you at least pretend for a little while you care about any of this? Even that might help. And you, in the back, Bueller from the Department of Justice, while Obama is making his same old speech today in Dallas about unity and all that coming together bullsh*t he says after every killing, can you call Kroll and in Minnesota and offer him some tips?
