Trump Gets The Constitution Wrong As His Campaign Morphs Into A Total Dumpster Fire

While speaking to House Republicans, Donald Trump managed to invent an article of the Constitution that doesn't exist as his presidential campaign transformed from a sinking ship into a total dumpster fire.
Another Republican who’s shown great reluctance with Trump, Rep. Mark Sanford of South Carolina, said he wasn’t particularly impressed.
“It was the normal stream-of-consciousness that’s long on hyperbole and short on facts,” Sanford said.
Sanford noted that Trump was asked at one point about protecting Article I powers in the Constitution. “I think his response was ‘I want to protect Article I, Article II, Article XII ― go down the list,” Sanford said, noting that there is no Article XII.
No one will ever confuse Gov. Hiking On The Appalachian Trail with a liberal, so it is safe to assume that Sanford was not exaggerating. Donald Trump has shown zero interest in the Constitution and how our government works throughout his presidential campaign, so it isn’t a shock that the presumptive nominee tried to bluff his way out of a question from the Republican members of Congress.
By all objective accounts, Trump’s meetings on Capitol Hill were a complete debacle. The Republican nominee met with members of his own party without bothering to do the slightest bit of research about who was on the ballot this fall. He got the Constitution wrong, claimed that he had a secret source inside the Clinton campaign, and invented polling that showed him winning Illinois and Oregon.
Trump doesn’t even know what the president does, and he has no clue about the Constitution. He is the perfect candidate for a party that has demonized intellect and fact. In other words, Donald J. Trump is the disaster that the Republican Party brought on itself.
