I'm all for LED streetlights but I don't know, there may[?] be some validity to that claim...I've seen other data on that as well. They installed some new LED streetlights (just like the one shown in that article) in my town & I noticed while driving by , that it was hard to look 'directly' at that light...it was 'very' intense, almost disorienting in nature. Which kind of surprised me , considering that the 'flood' of the same light (viewed indirectly) across the landscape was easily tolerable & actually quite nice. As you say , not many folks will camp-out under a streetlight , but I suppose it could be an issue in crowded urban settings where peoples sleeping quarters are right next to the street. But it appears as though research is being done to mitigate this (blue light) issue now, while still in the early adoption stages.
