Can Trump Win the Catholic Vote?

Religion has had influence over the past presidential elections. According to data compiled by the Pew Research Center, 50% of Catholics voted for Barack Obama while 48% voted for Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election.
According to EWTN anchor Raymond Arroyo, the Catholic vote will play a role in the 2016 presidential election as well.
“This tends to be the swing vote in America,” Raymond said to FOX Business Network’s David Asman. “Where the Catholics go, the population usually follows because these are people that are in the culture. They’re seculars and they’re not church goers, not all Catholics are church goers but they culturally identify like that.”
Raymond also stated how Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is winning over the Catholic vote.
“Trump has tapped into those people, in the primaries he overwhelmingly won majorities of Catholics in places like Massachusetts, 56% in Florida, these are bell weathered states where he has taken that middle of the Catholic vote” he said.
Arrayo added: “As I’ve told my friends, you are not electing a messiah; you’re electing a president,” he said.
