Just a little non-linear thinking: don't discount the idea that some other medical device company might be the one testing Brilacidin on their implants. Look at Medtronic, for instance -- they've been battling it out with other companies for dominance, and they like to acquire companies -- or in this case, perhaps acquire the drug for the specific application of coating their VERY MANY implants.
What kind of competitive advantage do you think a pacemaker company would have, if suddenly they could produce implants (or leads to external pacemakers) that had a much lower rate of infection?
What about all the catheter makers?
Really, there are all kinds of companies who could be use something like Brilacidin.
