Al-Baghdadi’s number two in command, Army Lieutenant Colonel Abu Muslim al-Turkmani, was killed in February 2015 from coalition strikes. His deputy, Assi Ali Mohammed Nasser al-Obeidi, was killed in January 2016 during an Iraqi air strike.
