Central Federal Corporation (NASDAQ: CFBK) (the "Company" announced that net income for the three months ended March 31, 2016 totaled $316,000 and increased $65,000, or 25.9%, compared to net income of $251,000 for the three months ended March 31, 2015. The increase in net income was due to a $230,000 increase in net interest income, a $25,000 decrease in provision expense, and a $11,000 decrease in noninterest expense, partially offset by a $150,000 increase in income tax expense, and a $51,000 decrease in noninterest income.

The increase in net income was due to a $3.2 million credit to income tax expense as a result of the reversal of a deferred tax valuation allowance, a $25,000 decrease in provision expense, and a $170,000 decrease in noninterest expense, partially offset by a $238,000 decrease in noninterest income.
