It seems odd to me that George announced that the gen set conversion was complete... except for the engine management software that would have to be updated by a Cummins technician. That was over a month ago and in today's PR GC stated "We had to bypass the computer management system as we did not have the code to get in. The Cummins technician was not familiar with the programming" and that "The system is set up for stand by emergency operation only." In other words, the diesel will burn up if run for an extended period of time. The whole purpose of the project was to produce a gen set that would hold up under a full load for an extended period of time. So, the several month run out period can not begin until the software is updated.
It is hard to believe that GC did not have all this covered beforehand unless Cummins does not have the expertise to do the program update or they are telling George to go pound sand. Something is awry here.
Now, we have a new investor (partner?) in the game, Allied Diesel Services located right in George's back yard, just 11.9 miles north of the Wall Township D&R shop. (Yes, I looked it up.) Here's hoping that if Cummins doesn't come through, GC will have the opportunity to bypass Cummins altogether with this new player.
