It doesn't matter if they're right or wrong. It does confirm what I already knew. Politics is a heated subject. 'Going there' will produce strong responses. Including, often, hostility. It's antithetical to broad mainstream acceptance.
Here's a parallel example. My local cafe had a Bernie for President poster on the bathroom door. I thought it was a really bad idea because it invited the impression that the cafe was not for the community as a whole; only Bernie supporters were really welcome. It was a fine strategy if they wanted to shrink their market. Otherwise, no.
To my mind, Jerry's publicly supporting Trump is a serious business risk. I'd say the same if he were supporting Bernie or Hillary.
