Huge news for Indianapolis.

The Speedway for the Indy 500
has lifted the media blackout after tickets sold out for Sunday's 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, track officials announced at a Wednesday morning press conference.

It's the first sellout in the history of the race, said CEO of Hulman Motorsports Mark Miles.

Now I can watch a live broadcast here in Indy like everyone else.
I never have of course. It has been a tradition in Indy to gather
around a radio.

The race was last broadcast live on television, without a delay, in 1950.

"There's no event in the world like the Indianapolis 500 mile race, and this sellout is a testament to the enduring legacy of the greatest spectacle in racing, the thrilling legacy in Verizon INDYCAR Series and the bright future for both," Miles said.

MS President Doug Boles said Wednesday is an exciting day for IMS.

"We're giving everyone who can't be here the opportunity, as well, to experience what's going to be so wonderful on Sunday in just a few days from now here at the Speedway," he said.

Boles had three words of advice for the nearly 360,000 race fans expected at the track Sunday — early, plan and patience.

He also wanted to assure that any fans who have purchased SnakePit tickets, but have not yet bought a race ticket, will still be able to do so.
