I will share what my DD has produced with you. After seeing quotes similar to yours , one day I tried Googling Abacavir and psoriasis. The interesting thing is almost all of the top results are in reference to Prurisol. Cool, but not helpful to explain why Menon chase Prurisol in the first place. What's more interesting is that the other top results are not what you would expect. Here is one of the search results. "Could Abacavir cause Psoriasis?" Well now what gives? Thankfully a poster on Ihub ( can't remember who) solved the riddle in one of his posts years ago.

Here was their theory. The incidence of psoriasis in patients taking Abacavir is actually lower than that of the general population and since the patients have AIDS one would expect the incidence to be higher than normal rather than lower.

"We study 3,455 people who have side effects while taking Abacavir from FDA and social media. Among them, 7 have Psoriasis. Find out below who they are, when they have Psoriasis

http://www.ehealthme.com/ds/abacavir/psoriasis

"According to the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA), about three percent of the world’s population has some form of psoriasis. In the United States, there are about 150,000 new cases every year, affecting about two percent of the population, according to the Cleveland Clinic."

Based on these two sources one should expect at least 104 (3%) AIDS patients to have psoriasis instead of 7 (.2%)

Now it could be that AIDS is controlling the psoriasis but the mouse data seems to verify that it was indeed the Abacavir that was working to prevent the psoriasis. We will know soon enough.
