It's creative writing...also referred to biased spin. The total population of California is a rough 32% HIGHER than the total population of Texas. By the authors own words....California created a rough 30% more jobs than Texas.

?...yeah....shouldn't that be a given?????

That's hardly THE thrust of the article. THE point is that the arguments for supply-side economics do not hold up in the real world and that the argument that tax hikes on the wealthy will stifle jobs is.........bogus.

That's proven by the proportional growth of CA jobs to TX, notwithstanding increased taxes that WERE used to reduce the CA deficits.

The rest of your arguments are 'spin'. The increased revenue COULD have been simply spent and not used to reduce the budget deficit.

That's not what happened.

And no one credibly argues that a budget surplus doesn't result in reduced borrowing costs. Which means CA can more economically, you know, build and repair public stuff?

Arguing against the results for subsidizing a nascent industry also don't hold up. Auto industry growth was subsidized with the construction of PUBLIC roads and bridges.

Oil industry continues to be subsidized, despite profits that are never really 'poor'.

Arguing that the economy of CA as a whole didn't benefit from investment in solar and increases in grid supply don't hold up either.

And of course solar represents an infinitesimal, albeit rapidly growing, component of the CA economy.

So take out the proportional job creation CA V TX, without looking closer at the kinds of jobs created in ea. State, and nothing on the rest of the list is invalid. Nor is the 'conclusion'. LOL!

Quote:
To put this in another way, since 2011, California:
◾Raised taxes on the rich fairly substantially.
◾Still maintains an eco-friendly state with fairly strict regulations.
◾Balanced their budget and created a huge surplus.

Quote:
Basically California, on the heels of the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression, did the exact opposite of everything Republicans say a government must do in order to grow an economy and balance a budget – and have seen enormous economic success since doing so to the tune of one-sixth of the entire country’s job creation since 2011 and a huge budget surplus.

In other words, Governor Jerry Brown did nearly everything that the GOP says will wreck an economy and bloat a deficit… and proved that Republicans are full of crap.
