I keep asking myself (because of the PPS in the crapper!) would I invest in this company and the answer is heck yes!! In fact more so today then when I got in, and not because of the PPS either. You commented about their technology and the widow it has, and its a valid concern i would think, but lets just step back and look at that alone, the competition uses HEVC which is what the industry uses as a whole I would say, Those Box manufacturers (Harmonic/Elemental, ect...) when they compress and delivery 4k at 16megs which seems to be what Netflix settled on for a bitrate for 4k, and the others followed suit because of the testing that was done and that the minimum they could go... we delivery at 4-6 megs 4k that is a huge difference, not just a bit of a difference, (I think they can even go lower... just my thought!, they just have set the mark there...) they have patents covering the sauce, to say no one will come up with something to get down that far is naive but it will take them quite a while, I think meaning 5-10 years IMO, and why i believe that is they have a software based encode, unlike their competition has Hardware based encodes with software ware supporting that compression and as coders work hard to come up with work rounds, you can only do so much with compression, also remember you also have to remember the sources and the compatibility of the encode to your compression... and audio, and so on... it really is quite convoluted, to say the least.. also VP9 which is Googles compression engine is doing the same bit rate as Netflix... I think in the end as things progress we will get bought out for our sauce and the masses we are able to reach due to it!! I know this is the most I have written since I have been here, shit!!!
