Politico reported on what Stewart had to say about Trump while taping an episode of David Axelrod’s The Axe Files podcast at University of Chicago Institute of Politics:
“I’m not a constitutional scholar, so I can’t necessarily say, but are you eligible to run if you are a man-baby, or a baby-man?” Stewart said during a taping of Axelrod’s “The Axe Files” podcast. “He has the physical countenance of a man and a baby’s temperament and hands.”
Stewart went on to describe Trump as thin-skinned and an “unrepentant narcissistic a–hole.” He even took a jab at Trump’s campaign slogan.
“When was America great? What is this time that he speaks of? ’81 to ’82? Like what are we talking about? And who took your country away from you?” he said.
If there was ever an election year that begged for the return of Jon Stewart, it is 2016. Stewart in his usual style made it clear that there is no way in hell that he thinks that Donald Trump should be president.
It is amazing, but not surprising that Stewart asked the one question that the media has consistently avoided when talking about Trump. What does he mean by make America great? What time in America is referring to? Who does he want to make America great for? Trump has never been asked any of these questions.
Stewart suspected that Trump was talking about the early 80s, but that wasn’t a great time in America if for people who were working class. The early 80s weren’t a great time socially or culturally. The early 80s were great if you were a rich white man like Donald Trump.
The media has dropped the ball on covering Trump and without Stewart’s nightly vigilance and criticism, it will only get worse until Election Day.
