Hulu Plans a Major Change to Their Ads
by Luke

Hulu_logoHulu is seeing solid subscriber growth with an over 30% increase year-over-year. Hulu also saw a 78% increase in total streams. Last year they offered an ad-free option and added a ton of new content.

Now Hulu wants to take it to the next level by making their ads more enjoyable with new interactive ads on your living room TV—not only through smart TVs but devices such as Fire TV, Roku, and Apple TV.

These new ads will be similar to what you see on your smart phone. You will see an ad for a product and be able to click on the ad if you want to buy products, order pizza, and more. Or you can just keep watching the ad.

The good news is that if you don’t like these ads you can always get the ad-free option Hulu offers.

“Over the past year, we’ve propelled Hulu by adding an extraordinary array of original series, hit broadcast and cable shows and blockbuster movies to our content portfolio—all of which has led to incredible growth in subscribers and engagement,” said Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins. “In 2016, we’re going even bigger and bolder. We’ll expand our offering with more premium content and brand-new ad measurement products that will continue to make Hulu the leader in choice for seamless entertainment and advertising experiences.”

Hulu has seen a huge turnaround over the last two years—from a company close to being sold off or closed to one that is solidly moving forward and growing. Hopefully Hulu will continue and offer more competition to its main competitors Amazon Video and Netflix. Cord cutters win when companies compete.
