Bhawks , if you don't mind me asking ......what is it about obamacare that has you sold and what is it about Hillary that makes you want her to be president ? Plus on a side note , what makes anyone want to vote democrat in this day and time' ?
Let's take your last question first. Please turn it around and tell me what makes anyone want to vote GOP 'in this day and time?
I've yet to read any post on this board make that case. Maybe you can be the first. And no, 'Hillary sucks' tells me nothing about what the GOP want's to do.
IMO Hillary is simply smarter and more knowledgeable than any of her potential GOP opponents. Smart and knowledgeable goes a long way with me
I don't think that even you can imagine either Trump or Cruz debating Hillary, effectively.
Trump won't prepare, and he will lose his emotional composure, easily. Cruz's incredibly annoying demeanor, voice and cadence and his penchant for lecturing will not serve him well, particularly when he falls back on his default positions on god, guns, gays and Reagenomics.
if you think that sh*t plays well outside of the GOP base, despite the evidence from the '12 election that it didn't, then be my guest!
The reforms In the ACA positively effect not just the relatively small number of insured on the Exchanges and through the Medicaid expansions. but also the approximately 155 million people who are insured through employer provided group plans. Yeah, it's that many.
What reforms? No disqualifications for pre-existing conditions, no limits on lifetime coverage, dependents covered to age 26.
Please try to make the case of doing away with those specific reforms or continuing them without the individual mandates which, along with many more premium paying customers, enabled the health insurers to provide those reforms.
Lotta moving pieces. Wish there weren't. But it's incumbent on those who want to repeal the ACA to very specifically state what they're going to replace it with, and how it will be paid for.
Two other reforms you need to address to Medicare patients. The horrendous Medicare D 'drug donut hole' has been shrinking yearly, as mandated in the ACA, on it's way to elimination by 2020. That represents a potentially enormous $ saving depending on a senior's prescription list.
Additionally there's one free Medicare health screening/year. it's not a full physical, but it does include blood work.
Again, make the case. And please don't do it by claiming that the absence of all of the above made the pre-ACA world both healthier and less full of medical bankruptcies. Also, please don't claim that deductibles and copays were not raised year in and year out pre-ACA.
And please, no anecdotes which ALWYAS overlook/devalue experiences that differ and also which imply that there were no 'winners and losers' in the pre-ACA world. Ask anyone who couldn't get coverage for pre-existing conditions, if they're still alive.
Because that last point seemingly doesn't mean sh*t to those who decry Obamacare, THAT'S a reason for me to vote Dem.
