Likely we all agree this is a nice story: "Cheap Trick Turned Down the RNC’s $100,000 Offer"
First Joe Walsh and now.......
Rough week for the RNC Convention Entertainment Selection Committee. Soon to be renamed the "Get Us a F*cking Band Right the F*ck Now, One That Doesn't Make us Seem Like the Out of Touch Dicks That We Are Committee!!" LOL!
Cheap Trick has high standards, I guess.
Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Cheap Trick are still very much a working band, but they won’t work for just anybody.
In a new interview with England’s Guardian, frontman Robin Zander said that “The Republican National Committee called our office and offered us $100,000 to play at their convention in Cleveland . We turned it down. Then we had second thoughts. Maybe we should have accepted it – but we would all have got swastika guitars made.”
Cheap Trick, of course, were just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — ironically, they were presented at the event by noted Republican Kid Rock.
In any case, the band have a lot of other paying gigs coming up: they’re co-headlining the Rock Hall Three for All tour with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Heart. That tour kicks off in July.
