Boreal Water Collection (BRWC) was awarded the “Superior Taste Award” from The International Taste & Quality Institute (iTQi). Boreal Water Collection (BRWC) won this award in 2012 with “Two Golden Stars (please see below about the Golden Star Rating). Posters have made mention of this Award numerous times.
Has anyone on the message board taken the time to do research on this award?
Here is what I found out:
- There is an entry fee. So, you must pay to be considered for the “Superior Taste Award”.
- In 2012, over 75% of submitted products were given an award. This is the same year BRWC won the award.
Awards Status Level:
All products with a minimum score of 70% are awarded in the following way:
• One Golden Star with a score between 70% and 80%: Products are awarded for “Notable Taste“
• Two Golden Stars with a score between 80% and 90%: products are awarded as “Remarkable“
• Three Golden Stars with a score of 90% and above: products are awarded as “Exceptional“
In 2016, a total of 1.662 products were tested among which 72% received at least one Golden star.

- As of 2012, entry fees are as follows (reduced fees apply if more than one product is submitted):
• Euro 750 (company turnover less than Euro 250,000)
• Euro 1090 (company turnover less than Euro 10 million)
• Euro 1650 (company turnover more than Euro 10 million)

How to participate in the “Award” - First item listed on iTQi’s website is: “Entry Fee”. Again, 75% of the companies that paid the entry fee won an award. 72% of those companies received at least one golden star.

So, not only did the shareholders have to pay for the entry fee into this “prestigious award”. We also had to pay for the travel to and from Brussels which consists of airfare, hotels, meals and probably flights for family members, etc. etc.
This money would've been better well spent on marketing, servicing existing relationships, creating new opportunities, improving shareholder value..... this is just my opinion on how I would've utilized the money.
