Produced by Carnival Films, Stan Lee’s Lucky Man will return to UK television in 2017. Sky1 has ordered a second season of the 10-part drama that stars James Nesbitt as a brilliant but flawed cop struggling to control his compulsions and the never-ending battle between good and bad luck. The first season, which launched in January and concludes on Friday this week, has been the channel’s highest-rated original drama series ever. It has had an average cumulative audience of 1.9M. It’s also the most-watched program each week on Sky’s online streaming service Now TV.
The action crime-drama is about fate, gambling, superstition and the consequences of our actions. Nesbitt returns in the role of Detective Inspector Henry Clayton who’s given a charm that seems to confer upon the wearer the ability to control luck.
The story is based on an original idea from Lee in his first foray into British television. Lee’s POW! Entertainment collaborates on the project. Richard Fell and Gareth Neame are executive producers for Carnival Films, maker of Downton Abbey and The Last Kingdom. NBCUniversal International Distribution has world sales.
