Re: HOT #1270
Sorry, friend but, our bloated debt IS from The Bush tax cuts followed by 2 wars and a Medicare Prescription Drug plan..all 3 on the credit card! Now, the way I remember it, Clinton left Bush a $250 billion annual budget surplus and a $6 trillion national debt and Bush left Obama a $750 billion annual deficit and a $13 trillion national debt. Obama should be leaving his successor with a annual budget deficit of less than $500 billion and a national debt of $19-20 trillion because, nobody thinks raising taxes during a recession is a good idea! Now, if we get a Democrat for president, congress might be able to raise taxes enough to at least cover our annual budget and stop adding to the national debt but, if we get a Republican president, he'll push for more tax cuts, without spending cuts, driving the debt higher and higher because, that's what Republicans do! Just because Republicans call themselves 'conservatives' doesn't make them conservative. When all you do is criticize how big the government is and do nothing to shrink it and then refuse to raise taxes enough to pay for this big government, all we're doing is passing on our debt to our children and grandchildren! I call that being 'cheap', not conservative! So, let's recap, Bush more than doubled the national debt by cutting taxes and putting 2 wars and Medicare Part D on the credit card...taking the national debt from $6T to $13T and putting us in the worst recession and causing the biggest loss of wealth in history! Obama inherits this huuuge klusterfuck and over the course of only 7 years, he, Obama, practically single handedly, gets us out of it!!! And because, in a RECESSION, you can't raise taxes or cut spending, the national debt will be $19-20T when Obama leaves office but, only because of the path Bush put us on!! Better check your facts, buddy!
