I take this at face value, and it it NOT a negative reflection on CTIX.
If someone has a chance to be in on the ground floor in a new company which is in their area of research interest, it makes perfect sense for them to take what might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Dr. Jorgenson probably already has a ton of CTIX stock and/or options, so why oversee someone else's research when you can become the head guy elsewhere? In fact, he might be feeling confident of taking a financial risk (going to a privately-held, unknown quantity company to START UP some research) precisely because he knows that he's going to have plenty of money from his CTIX stock/options.
