I'm not afraid of the word socialism. it doesn't set off the fire storm in my head that it does for you. You know, the 'blaze' that fries the synapses usually used for fact based reasoning?
In no way do I want to do away with capitalism. My 401 K is what it recovered to be BECAUSE of capitalism. However that result is not incompatible with my desire for smart regulation of the banks and of the capital markets. you know, so we don't repeat the sh*t storm of '08?
And another thing, the full recovery of my 401 K happened under a president who has regularly been reviled as a 'socialist', among many other bat sh*t allegations. So, Thanks Obama!
Neither do I think that discussing single payer and bringing back Glass-Steagall is incompatible with capitalism.
Nothing bur a wipeout of the GOP Senate majority would allow even a Bill to debate the matters. Another reason why the word 'socialism' doesn't scare me.
