I don't remember this ever being mentioned, but I believe its important to understand:
Spectrascience, originally (as in decades ago) was a failing company. It was on the verge of Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Our old CEO Jim Hitchin actually acquired spectrascience in the late 90s and completely transformed the dying company into something viable. Acquiring a failing company is oftentimes less expensive than trying to start up your own company from scratch. Look what SCIE just did with Oncoscope. SCIE could have created their own Oncoscope tech, but knew it was cheaper to simply buy them out.
And don't forget, just prior to Jim Hitchin's acquisition of spectrascience, Jim sold his successful medical company which developed ventilator products.
In addition, Oncoscope is not the first acquisition of Spectrascience. Years ago, SCIE bought out their rival Media Spectra, and from that acquisition, we went from the boxy WavSTAT to the current, sleek version we see today. Now that we have the Oncoscope acquisition, it makes me wonder if a WavSTAT5 is in the works, or possibly something even better. Typically, an acquisition leads to something new; and more than likely, we will hear of whatever this new 'news' is in a PR or SEC filing.
As of this post, I think things look pretty good for SCIE.
