"The utility-scale solar power generation is still in its early stages despite explosive growth in the recent years. The large-scale solar facilities are currently generating approximately 0.6% of total electricity generation in the U.S, but this landscape is changing rapidly.
The Energy Information Administration is expecting 9.5GW installation of utility-scale solar generation in 2016 alone, which is more than any other single energy source . The rapidly falling installation cost, which has dropped more than 50% since 2009, is one of the major factors fueling the large-scale solar facilities."
