FireEye Endpoint Security (HX) 3.1 Offers Intelligent Exploit Detection With Addition of Exploit Guard, Also Features Host-Based Workflows and New Federal Certifications
MILPITAS, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 03/02/16 -- FireEye, Inc. (NASDAQ: FEYE), the leader in stopping today's advanced cyber attacks, today announced the release of FireEye® Endpoint Security (HX™) 3.1 with Exploit Guard™ -- a major update to the HX product adding enhanced protection against endpoint exploits to its endpoint detection and response capabilities. Based on the industry-leading FireEye MVX™ engine, Exploit Guard expands the power of the FireEye Global Threat Management Platform with HX to endpoints, enabling better protection of organizations' endpoints from exploits that bypass other endpoint security products. HX 3.1 will be generally available March 30, 2016.
Exploit Guard applies behavioral analysis and machine intelligence techniques to evaluate individual endpoint activities and correlate this data to detect an exploit. With the largest database of core exploit types, Exploit Guard has the ability to assess a variety of individual and combined processes to determine if an exploit is taking place, see past obfuscation efforts by an attacker, and detect unknown attacks. HX 3.1's data-driven, easily updated framework does not rely on traditional systems' fixed-code types and signatures, allowing a more flexible capability to detect and respond to new threats with higher efficacy and speed than other endpoint security solutions.
"FireEye first gave organizations the upper hand in dealing with the evolving threats against networks and email by introducing a platform built around its MVX technology, and we are now doing the same for endpoints by introducing the core techniques of MVX into HX 3.1," said Jim Waggoner, senior director, product management, FireEye. "The addition of Exploit Guard brings a level of detection and accuracy to endpoint exploit protection that helps secure organizations from threats that pass their other endpoint solutions. The release of HX 3.1 is a major first step in our endpoint protection capabilities designed to better fight evolving attacks and a critical enhancement for the FireEye platform."
In addition to Exploit Guard, HX 3.1 introduces Host Based Workflow, a new user interface page that unifies individual hosts' current alerts, system details, and acquisitions. The new interface is designed to enable quicker analyst workflows to improve the time it takes for analysts to detect and respond to incidents.
In continued support for US Federal customers as cyber security initiatives change, HX 3.1 has also been certified under the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation. HX 3.1 is also in process of being certified for the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). These certifications help ensure government agencies of the interoperability and security of the FireEye platform, allowing them to deploy new features like Exploit Guard.

About FireEye, Inc.
FireEye has invented a purpose-built, virtual machine-based security platform that provides real-time threat protection to enterprises and governments worldwide against the next generation of cyber attacks. These highly sophisticated cyber attacks easily circumvent traditional signature-based defenses, such as next-generation firewalls, IPS, anti-virus, and gateways. The FireEye Threat Prevention Platform provides real-time, dynamic threat protection without the use of signatures to protect an organization across the primary threat vectors and across the different stages of an attack life cycle. The core of the FireEye platform is a virtual execution engine, complemented by dynamic threat intelligence, to identify and block cyber attacks in real time. FireEye has over 4,400 customers across 67 countries, including more than 680 of the Forbes Global 2000.
