You have to set the ROKU 4 to a 4K screen mode (2160) to get the splitter to work correctly. If the ROKU 4 doesn't see a 4K TV, it wont let you change the setting from the true resolution of your TV.
The solution still will probably work fine for the people with older 4K TV's or "bargain" models that don't have the HDCP 2.2 security protocol. The 4K TV will provide the 2160 setting the ROKU 4 wants to see and the proper splitter will provide the HDCP 2.2 security protocol the ROKU 4 wants to see.
I have not tried this with a 4K TV so this is unproven.
Here is the model of splitter that I bought. There are not a lot of them that support the HDCP 2.2 security protocol yet, but this is the cheapest I could find.
The 2 port one is cheaper, but it was out of stock.

I'm still playing with it, but to this point, no success getting it to work with a HD TV (1080)
