And how do you plan on paying for it? Do you know how much we spend on Medicare today? Have you ever researched the annual increase of dependence on such programs and what they've done to the economy thus far?
For example, here is some research I conducted recently regarding the SNAP food stamp program.
The following chart shows the increase of SNAP participation during the Obama administration.
This chart represents the increased costs to the taxpayers associated with the program.
Is chart shows the annual YOY percentile growth of SNAP participants and the costs associated with in relation the annual YOY percentile growth of the total population.
And lastly, this chart represents the possibility of the entire country living off government assistance if the current growth rate is sustained.
The following is what I explained after the President's State of the Union Address:
The President took credit for "creating" jobs, in tonights address. Here are recent charts that show the increase in participants in the Food Stamp/SNAP program and its related costs to the tax payer's.
45.77 million people (14.19% of the population) are enrolled in the SNAP program costing tax payer's $73.86 billion. That's an increase of 17.55 million people and an additional $36.22 billion in taxpayer spending (first two charts).
The next chart in the series shows the year-over-year annual percentile growth, in relation to population growth, of the SNAP Program and the costs associated with it to the taxpayers. It shows that the increase in participants and costs grew substantially greater per annum than the population itself which means more people each year are becoming more financially dependent on the government for assistance.
At the rate these types of governmental assistance programs are growing (last chart), the entire country could be on food stamps by 2054.
There were a few periods which showed a decrease in people's dependence on governmental assistance, but reliance on the SNAP program has increased exponentially during the Obama Administration. The "down years", interestingly enough, were during the Ford, Reagan, and Clinton Administrations.
January 1, 2009 is the first time in the programs history SNAP enrollment reached a double digit growth rate and remains to this day.
The data was updated on 1/08/16 and was harvested by myself from the USDA website.
Mr. President, why don't you address what the "quality" of those jobs are and why they are leading to an increased dependency of financial assistance programs? True job creation should not function this way.
