Trump is an enigma that I have yet to comprehend.
Yes, he could be quite a force if he were to fully embrace the conservative philosophy. However, I am not sure he views the world that way. He appears to be transitioning in the conservative direction, but, it seems his views are not fully gelled yet. I am struggling to predict where his journey will take him.
Will he end up a conservative? How conservative? Keep in mind that most conservatives on the extreme lack pragmatism and moderates lack a conservative guiding light. Somewhere in between is the ideal, but, where will Trump find his place?
Will he go back to being a liberal? It would be highly irregular, but, every once in awhile, he does spout off very liberal ideas. These may fade away over time, but, they may also take root and rekindle other liberal ideals he held in the past.
Does he even want his ideals to gel? Trump is a very successful real-estate guy who has worked the system over the years to get what he wants. There is nothing wrong with this. In fact most of us aspire to be more like Trump...if we had the means, of course. However, it takes a serious squelching on ones own beliefs to be such a chameleon to achieve that kind of pragmatic success. Is he even capable of nurturing his ideals, growing them and then living by them? We don't really know yet as he as not been on his journey to becoming a conservative for very long. The best we can say is that the jury is still out.
