A simple estimate from the amount of votes garnered by tea partiers shows that very few tea partiers are actually Trump supporters.
Let me also add that Trump has actually brought lots of visibility to the party at large and to some conservative ideas. yes, I question whether he actually supports the ideas he espouses, but, visibility is still a good thing. Secondly, he has brought many new faces to the Republican party that may end up embracing some of the conservative ideals. Finally, there may be some long term benefits of the new faces as they inject new ideas into the party. This group of Americans are sick and tired of the "go along to get along" mentality of some republicans in public office. The Trumpians disdain for this attitude, coupled with the tea partier's disgust for this attitude may help us finally right the ship of these career politicians.
Again, I am not a Trump supporter, but, I do not, in any way, wish to denigrate the value he and his proud horde have brought to our humble party.
in the big picture, we are all Americans. We all believe in moving the country forward and enabling everyone of us to achieve the american dream. Our only differences are in how we get there. The more people we can help enlighten in the benefits of free market, self determination, personal liberty and family values, the better we all will be off.
Government functions best when they are small enough to nimbly navigate the chaotic world around us. Debt payments are quickly becoming the largest part of our budget and the better the economy gets the larger those payments will be (given their dependence on interest rates). Shrinking the size of government addresses our desire for self governance and enhances our ability to pay down the debt so that one day, our government can become that nimble force, that beacon on the hill.
