$AMZZD's CleanPetroleum™ and XPetroleum™ – both proprietary XFuels brand names – refer to advanced biohydrocarbons, generically known as synthetic or biopetroleum. Biohydrocarbons are similar to conventional hydrocarbon fuels, such as gasoline or diesel, but are produced from biomass feedstocks, such as agricultural waste, woody biomass or algae (as well as other waste carbon materials), through a variety of biological and chemical processes.
Advanced biohydrocarbons are considered a "drop-in" fuel, because their use does not require significant modifications to existing fuel distribution infrastructure or vehicle engine modifications for gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles.
