iovation Discusses Authentication Techniques and Challenge Reduction Strategies With Gaming Companies, Banks and Law Enforcement

PORTLAND, OR and LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Jan 19, 2016) - iovation , the provider of device intelligence for authentication and fraud prevention, today announced that it will share the latest fraud prevention strategies for online gaming at the upcoming ICE Totally Gaming conference in London. Scott Olson, iovation's vice president of product, will participate in two key sessions as part of the Cybercrime, Security and Regulatory Compliance in Gaming track on Wednesday, February 3.

"The UK online gambling market generates nearly £3 billion in annual revenue, making it an attractive target for fraudsters," said Olson. "In fact, iovation's global device intelligence network shows that five percent of all devices used for gaming are linked to fraud -- more than any other industry. In response, gaming operators must be vigilant about stopping fraud schemes including bonus abuse, chip dumping and arbitrage betting. I'm excited to detail how using device intelligence for online authentication helps reduce fraudulent logins, account takeover attempts, and reduces challenge questions for good players -- improving the online gaming experience."

At 11am GMT, Olson will discuss using device intelligence to accurately authenticate customers and assess fraud risk in the session "KYC and enhanced CDD under the Directive: How much is enough?" He will speak alongside David Knowles and Gavin Burton, detectives on the Amberhill False Identity Team of Organized Crime Command section at New Scotland Yard; David Schollenberger, partner head of gaming and leisure at Healys LLP; and Roy Ramm, managing director at ExtraYard Limited.

Mobile fraud prevention in online gaming is an increasing concern for operators. Mobile transactions now account for 49 percent of all gaming transactions according to iovation, with one percent of those stopped due to high fraud risk and another 2.4 percent sent to manual review. During the conference, Olson will outline ways to protect mobile and credit card payments in the session entitled "Future payments: technological advancement and security issues" being held at 4:15pm GMT on February 3. He will be joined by Peter Howitt, chief executive at the Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association; Tatiana Alviti, head of player services at Lottomatica; and Markus Schulz, advisory board member at ACAMS and global head of financial crimes compliance controls at Standard Chartered.

The ICE Totally Gaming conference runs from February 2-4, 2016 at ExCel London international convention center. iovation will be exhibiting there in stand #N7-538.
