During the past five years, Ms. Calzone served as COO of two early-stage companies in the medical devices and ecommerce industries. Previously, she spent nearly 19 years as Chief Administrative Officer of Bloomberg L.P., serving as one of the company’s top five managers as it grew from $10 million to $5+ billion in revenues and from 500 to over 200,000 subscribers and customers. From 2006 to 2010, she also served as an executive with Bloomberg Philanthropies, which focuses on the environment, public health, the arts, government innovation, and education. Among her other achievements at Bloomberg Philanthropies, Ms. Calzone established the infrastructure for operations, administration, and human resources.

Ms. Calzone’s principal responsibility at Foundation Source will be managing Client Services, Financial Operations, Tax and Legal, Account Services, and the technology and infrastructure that supports these areas. Ms. Calzone reports to Robert Chartener, Chief Executive Officer.

According to Mr. Chartener, “Susan has a well-earned reputation for building the kind of robust systems and processes we need in order to continue providing best-in-class services to our private foundation clients. With her leadership, we expect to enhance our infrastructure in order to support our company’s rapid growth, enabling us to expand while continuing to provide an exceptional experience for our many stakeholders – private foundation clients, their professional advisors, strategic partners, staff, and shareholders.”

“I am excited to join the company that pioneered the concept of ‘lean philanthropy’ over a decade ago, applying business efficiency models of outsourcing, automation, and economies of scale to the private foundation sector,” said Ms. Calzone. “Thanks to the company’s innovative approach and dedicated team of professionals, donors are able to leverage more impact for their philanthropic dollars. I look forward to working with my Foundation Source colleagues and the Board to ensure that the company continues to innovate and grow its service offerings along with its client base.”

Prior to embarking on her business career, Ms. Calzone earned a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the Tuck School at Dartmouth, where she served on the Board of Overseers. She and her family live in Norwalk, CT.
