As I said before, I think this judge is worried about being overturned on appeal, or being chastised as her colleague was, so she didn't want to take a chance on someone saying it wasn't reasonable to grant 5 more days. I hope that this Stern guy doesn't write the amendment any better than he wrote the letter. We're in good shape if that's the case. (that was a pun.... the case....)
Things ALWAYS take longer in the legal system than anyone on the outside expects.
I will say this though: the Ashcroft firm is connected. Sullivan is connected. I've seen it happen that the better-connected attorney prevails even when representing a client who is obviously in the wrong. In this case, the better-connected attorney happens to be in the right. I hope that the Rosen firm is stewing in their own foul juices when they think about this.
