Utterly disgusting that we can't get accurate daily figures on genuine short positions (at least, the legal shorts, not the illegal naked shorts). Technology is there, the crooks just don't want to disclose the information.
As far as those twice-monthly reports of short positions being meaningful in any way, I don't believe them to be accurate. That article shows why. When people say "there's not a significant short position in [stock X]" I call BS. We have no way of knowing whether the figures are anywhere near accurate, because of these crooks not reporting correctly.
