What if the opposite of tax-loss selling is capital-gains buying? Could those big one-minute bars be short covering -- taking profits? Which, of course would make sense because now no one expects there to be a press release before January. Who would want to take a chance on being short and having a press release hitting pre-market before the first trading day of January?
