He's right at those odds. The only thing I could suggest is have an official from the FAA watch the slides being packed from factory to aircraft and verify those slides are in fact installed on the aircraft. From a statistical standpoint the FAA needs to put faith in the FAA certified packers they certified and stand by them. All we should be responsible for is demonstrating that we know how to deploy the slides, the rules as they are need to be changed to reflect the knowledge of the failure rates.
Correct me if I am wrong here but with the current known failure rates of 37% leaves us with an odds of passing at 13.5%.
