Minimal Growth in the Small Business Economy Continues

NEW YORK, Nov. 25, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Newtek Business Services Corp., (NASDAQ: NEWT ), The Small Business Authority ® , announced today the release of the SB Authority Index of small business indicators for September 2015 which reached 131.06 points.  The SB Authority Index is down 0.06% from August 2015, however on a year-over-year comparison, the SB Authority Index is up 1.45%. The ADP employment report, Russell Microcap Index and retail sales led the increase.

Barry Sloane, Chairman, President and CEO of The Small Business Authority ® commented, “As it appears the gales of consumer spending are finally faltering, we are getting help from growth in hiring just in time. The ADP employment component of our index gave us enough growth to lift the index year over year despite a sequential decline. The economy, albeit fragile, continues to struggle forward, with the operative word being forward. We look forward to hopefully continued gains in employment to lift the index and the small business economy.”
