Very familiar with take offs...part of our job too for the gear.
Pricing programs for gear is so sophisticated now, from take off comes pricing/bom, quote to order entry all pre engineered.
Make sure your wheel is calibrated for pipe and wire runs and that counter for fixtures...lol
The estimator with the biggest mistake gets the contract!
