I was looking around Pulkovo Airport’s website and found their “Airport Indicators”

If you scroll down to “Most Popular Destinations” Moscow is the #1 spot by a lot.
So, I went to google travel and looked at the flight time from St. Petersburg to Moscow. The shortest time is 1 hour, 15 minutes with Aeroloft.
So, I took the 8 hours from JFK to St. Petersburg with BLTA and added the time from St. Petersburg to Moscow with Aeroloft, totaling 9 hours 15 minutes.
Here is the interesting part: looking at direct flights from JFK to Moscow, with no stops, is 9 hours 5 minutes. There is only 10 minutes difference between flying JFK to St. Petersburg to Moscow than flying directly from JFK to Moscow.
Why is this interesting? If the flight time is about the same, Baltia could expand to Moscow easily with some code sharing agreements with Aerloft. If BLTA could coordinate flights with Aeroloft that people can fly BLTA from JFK to Pulkovo then board a flight to Moscow, they could pick the Moscow route up without buying an extra plane, thereby maximizing revenue and having in sorts two routes to Russia.
